“What’s the Catch?” is a 20-page educational comic book about DDT and PCB contamination in Southern California. Amanda, the talking western sea gull, meets up with Mariza and José, two young anglers, to talk with them about contamination and how it moves up the food chain. Their adventure takes them through the history of the contamination releases, with the help of Fernando, the talking sea lion, and what they can do to protect themselves from eating contaminated fish.
For this project, I coordinated scientific advisors and the comic book’s illustrator throughout the content development, storyboarding, review, translation, publishing, and distribution processes.
